We sold our shop!

It was quite the bittersweet decision. What a blessing to find someone to purchase our shop as a turn key business.  It was hard to look around and walk out the door for the last time as the shop's owner.
Every once in a while I need something and think, "Oh, I have that at the shop" and realize I no longer have a shop.  We will wait awhile before going in and checking it out. That is if I can get John to go back. He says we walked away and it will be too hard to go back.

Anyway, we have tons of items we have collected through the years that we never brought into the shop we can sell online. We have time again to go out and do the things we love, estate sales, auctions .... hunting for that perfect treasure!

Merry Christmas to everyone.

And because we sold the shop, we are right on target with our shopping!

Not your typical Thrift Shop Myrtle Beach, SC

When we opened our Thrift, Collectibles & Antiques shop in Myrtle Beach we promised ourselves we wouldn't become that, "Thrift Shop" without "thrift" prices. We have continued to keep our prices affordable. We have loyal local customers as well as numerous return vacationing customers. We also pride ourselves on having the right market price on our collectibles and antiques. We love when other shop owners come in and buy from us to bring back to their own shops! Small businesses helping out small businesses.  This is what I love about our shop.  When we buy at the right price we can pass it on.

Ok, now that I have bragged about how absolutely wonderful our shop has become, I truly dislike that I need to write we have to put it up for sale because of medical reasons  We are looking for the special someone who has the same passion that we have.
The auctions, picking, hunting for that one special treasure then, finding the right person who falls in love with it, or has been looking for that particular piece and has to have it.

Not only do our collectors make up our shop but the local community has found that if they are in need they can come to us for help.  We have made so many wonderful friends and I am so sad this chapter of our lives has to come to an end.  But, as we all know, when one door closes, another door opens!

Don't forget to VOTE!

Please Vote today!  So many people I have spoken with tell me they won't vote because it's not going to make a difference.  That's not true, every vote counts.  You can't complain about what's going on in this country, if you don't do your part!
Then, if it doesn't go your way, COMPLAIN AWAY!

Myrtle Beach Thrift Collectibles & Antiques

Thrift, Collectibles & Antiques 1360 HWY 501 Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 Antique Trunks have been what we have been buying lately.  They are so beautiful and of course I want to keep them. Hump Back trunk from 1839 and I wish I had a picture, Army footlocker, and a couple others that I have started to refinish.  When you find one with the tray still inside it is worth more money. Our Humpback has a tray that cannot come out it is attached with hinges which is very cool!

It's a shame that so many antiques and collectibles have lost their value during these hard times.  If you think you have something that is worth more than you are being offered and you can afford to, KEEP IT.  Hold on to the things you can and don't just settle on a price just to sell it.  The Internet is flooded with everything you can think of because everyone is in the same position and they need money.  It's always  about supply and demand!

I can't tell you how many people come into our shop a day trying to sell us their collectibles.  It was their great grandmother's and they grew up seeing it in the living room.  I know because I have some of my families treasures.   Some of these items have held their value, but other than the one out of ten we need to tell them it's not worth what they believe it should be, and they are right. It makes me sad to burst their bubble!

Coins have held their value, and, of course, silver and gold. Don't Forget to use a Very Strong Magnet and make sure it's real before you purchase silver or gold! Your real gold necklaces will have it's clasp attached to the necklace its self, not a jump ring. Some fake silver can have 925 on the clap, which can be silver, but the chain is not. Don't feel like you can't test it with your magnet in front of the seller, they won't have a problem with that if it is real gold or silver! I carry my magnifying glass and magnet in my purse at all times.  You never know when you will need them.
Of course these aren't the only ways to test them but make a wise decision before handing out a ton of cash. Also, there are fake coins out there too. I don't want to scare you about your purchases but, believe me we have had to learn by our own mistakes.

For some reason we can't keep wheat pennies. They too fly off the shelves. Military items are still going strong. Also,we found some Franklin Mint cars that sold for a great price. Vintage knives are also great sellers, guys and girls love knives.
But, if you have McCoy, Roseville  or other pottery, please don't settle, hold on to it until you really want to sell it or at least until you can sell it for the right price.

Feel free to contact us should you have any questions!
Have a blessed day!

Storage Unit Auctions!

It has been a very long time that I have been able to post anything on my blog. We have been swamped at our new shop! That is good and bad. We did get a few really great units, but, where to put everything?! A really interesting find was thousands of First Day Cover Stamps dating back to the 40's and on ward.  We have so many we are selling them for just $1.00 each to move them. Comics, the same, just move them
out!Hundreds of TY Beanie Babies, all in their plastic tubes. Someone really loved to collect beanie babies. I was never into that myself, so I had no idea how many different babies there were. Princess Di,and baseball players,I mean everything under the sun can be a beanie baby.  Who knew?  Well, probably everyone else in the world, but me...

I went by myself to an auction, but didn't get one. I did bid, but some of them looked to be soooo much work and it was really hot! So, it was a bitter sweet. I walked away empty handed but, didn't need to sweat my buns off either.

The latest one we did get was super nice because everything was basically in bins. That was a gamble because we couldn't see anything, but it was a great find. All kinds of high end tools, Harley stuff, NFL jerseys, nice stereos, high end housewares, just something for every area of our shop... and of course everything was all neat and tidy!  NO DUMP RUNS.....Yeah!!

I haven't been able to locate another smoke stand. I am kicking myself in the butt for selling the three that I had collected.  But, I can't keep everything!!  We are hoping to expand over into the next space, that way I can keep more things....lol

Our stray "shop cat" Hope, had kittens 9 weeks ago. We were able to find, the oldest boy, a good home, but now the kittens are taking over the backroom.... :}  You can't just put up a Free Kitten sign because you    never know who will be taking your babies. So, we just continue to work around them, and over them and next to them.  Hope will be visiting the vet very soon!

Anyway, I am off to work again, I hope if you are in the area, or visiting Myrtle Beach, you stop bye and visit us and the cats!

Have a blessed day and keep on treasure hunting!!
