Myrtle Beach Thrift Collectibles & Antiques

Thrift, Collectibles & Antiques 1360 HWY 501 Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 Antique Trunks have been what we have been buying lately.  They are so beautiful and of course I want to keep them. Hump Back trunk from 1839 and I wish I had a picture, Army footlocker, and a couple others that I have started to refinish.  When you find one with the tray still inside it is worth more money. Our Humpback has a tray that cannot come out it is attached with hinges which is very cool!

It's a shame that so many antiques and collectibles have lost their value during these hard times.  If you think you have something that is worth more than you are being offered and you can afford to, KEEP IT.  Hold on to the things you can and don't just settle on a price just to sell it.  The Internet is flooded with everything you can think of because everyone is in the same position and they need money.  It's always  about supply and demand!

I can't tell you how many people come into our shop a day trying to sell us their collectibles.  It was their great grandmother's and they grew up seeing it in the living room.  I know because I have some of my families treasures.   Some of these items have held their value, but other than the one out of ten we need to tell them it's not worth what they believe it should be, and they are right. It makes me sad to burst their bubble!

Coins have held their value, and, of course, silver and gold. Don't Forget to use a Very Strong Magnet and make sure it's real before you purchase silver or gold! Your real gold necklaces will have it's clasp attached to the necklace its self, not a jump ring. Some fake silver can have 925 on the clap, which can be silver, but the chain is not. Don't feel like you can't test it with your magnet in front of the seller, they won't have a problem with that if it is real gold or silver! I carry my magnifying glass and magnet in my purse at all times.  You never know when you will need them.
Of course these aren't the only ways to test them but make a wise decision before handing out a ton of cash. Also, there are fake coins out there too. I don't want to scare you about your purchases but, believe me we have had to learn by our own mistakes.

For some reason we can't keep wheat pennies. They too fly off the shelves. Military items are still going strong. Also,we found some Franklin Mint cars that sold for a great price. Vintage knives are also great sellers, guys and girls love knives.
But, if you have McCoy, Roseville  or other pottery, please don't settle, hold on to it until you really want to sell it or at least until you can sell it for the right price.

Feel free to contact us should you have any questions!
Have a blessed day!
