First Edition John Steinbeck Hard Cover - Cannery Row 1945 With Dust Jacket

Boy, was my heart jumping when I discovered this John Steinbeck First Edition ~
With the Dust Jacket no less!  I almost kept this one for myself.  
~ He won the Nobel Prize for Literature ~ 1962
~ He wrote the Pulitzer Prize winning novel  The Grapes of Wrath ~ 1939

Just some of Steinbeck's works include:
 Cup of Gold(1927),  Of Mice and Men, The Grapes of Wrath,
East of Eden, In Dubious Battle,
Travels With Charley, Cannery Row, The Wayward Bus .... the list goes on and on....
John Steinbeck died in New York City on December 20, 1968, he was only 66.

Pulitzer Prize winning novel
 The Grapes of Wrath ~ 1939

 
The street that Steinbeck described as "Cannery Row" in the novel, once named Ocean View Avenue, was renamed Cannery Row in honor of the novel, in 1958.
The town of Monterey has commemorated Steinbeck's work with an avenue of flags depicting characters from Cannery Row, historical plaques, and sculptured busts depicting Steinbeck and Ricketts.

 A cute bit of history about the Cannery Row Book, The 1950 Tweety Bird cartoon "Cannery Row" and the 1967 Tom and Jerry cartoon short "Cannery Rodent"  have their titles based on a play-on-words of this book's name.
